Danielle Povey

Danielle joined JMW in August 2024 as a Senior Associate in the Professional Misconduct team, part of the Business Crime and Regulation Department and was promoted to Partner in May 2026.

Danielle has extensive experience in the representation of police officers facing criminal and misconduct allegations providing advice on behalf of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW), City of London Police (ColP) Federation and British Transport Police (BTP) Federation to their officers.

Danielle is a nationally recognised in advising police officers in Post Incident Procedures following death or serious injury after police contact such as deaths in police custody, high speed pursuits or police firearms incidents.

• Danielle represented TP7 as an interested party in the High Court ruling R (on the application of Dunne) v Independent Office for Police Conduct 2023 EWHC 3300 Admin which has had a significant impact on Investigations conducted by the IOPC.
• Danielle has advised in connection with AAIB, and CAA investigations. Together with Elizabeth Fox she represented BALPA in the High Court proceedings which led to the landmark decision on disclosure in Chief Constable of Sussex Police v Secretary of State for Transport (2016).
