Karl joined JMW in May 2025 as an Associate in the Restructuring and Insolvency team in the firm’s London office.
He advises on a wide range of corporate and personal insolvency matters, both contentious and non‑contentious. His experience includes:
• Advising office holders on recovery strategies in relation to potential claims against directors, including overdrawn director loan accounts, breaches of duty and antecedent transactions;
• Preparing and progressing court applications, including winding‑up petitions and bankruptcy petitions;
• Advising lenders on enforcement options following breaches of facility and security agreements; and,
• Acting on business and asset sales from insolvent companies, including pre‑packaged administration transactions.
Karl read Politics and Law at Keele University, graduating with a 2:1 in 2012. He went on to complete the GDL and LPC before beginning his career as an analyst at CVR Global LLP (now part of Begbies Traynor Group). Prior to joining JMW, Karl worked at Funding Circle Ltd, a listed fintech, where he became the company’s first trainee solicitor. He later progressed to Legal Counsel, advising on litigation, corporate and personal insolvency matters, and structured finance transactions.
