The role will be primarily based in Manchester, with occasional travel to our Liverpool and London offices as required.

Why JMW?

  • Minimum 4 years’ AML/Compliance experience in a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML regulations, sanctions legislation, and regulatory guidance.
  • Experience beyond KYC and onboarding processes.
  • A proactive approach and commitment to developing expertise in AML and wider compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and update the firm-wide AML risk assessment using data from file reviews, onboarding, client/matter assessments, AML software, and regulatory guidance.
  • Enhance AML policies, processes, and systems.
  • Collaborate with IT to improve file-opening workflows and electronic ID verification.
  • Support fee earners with complex client due diligence, including reputational and sanctions checks.
  • Assist MLRO and deputy MLRO with internal suspicious activity reports and potentially external reports.
  • Deliver AML training and provide compliance support for escalated screening alerts.
  • Review client/matter risk assessments and identify knowledge gaps.
  • Build strong relationships with partners, fee earners, and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of existing clients to ensure ongoing compliance.
