JMW’s Catastrophic Injury team have an exciting opportunity a Paralegal to join the team in Manchester due to continuing expansion.
JMW’s Personal Injury team is ranked in band 1 for personal injury work in the Northwest for both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. This is a great opportunity to work with and learn from leaders in the field in respect of catastrophic injury litigation and develop legal knowledge. The roles will involve supporting senior members of the team with a mixed caseload of brain, spinal cord and amputation claims.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafting witness statements
- Attending conferences with counsel and experts and taking detailed notes
- Court documents
- Obtaining, reviewing, and collating records
- Reviewing medical reports
- Researching case law on liability and quantum
- Liaising with clients and updating on case progress
- Preparing instructions to medical experts and counsel
- Preparing court bundles
- Dealing with billing and disbursement payments.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience of Personal Injury work and catastrophic injury claims is essential
- Work well in a team
- Ability to pro-actively prioritise and complete work to a high standard set by senior fee earners
- Excellent client care skills - communicate with clients of the department in a professional and empathetic manner
- Strong academic record
- Experience using Proclaim Case Management System would be advantageous but not essential.
The role will initially be fully-office based for a settling in period, after which there will be the option to work remotely for up to 2 days per week
