A Tameside charity that supports families who have suffered the loss of a baby or child is set to benefit from a funding boost after a law firm chose it as one of its sponsored good causes.

JMW Solicitors is providing financial assistance to Finding Rainbows, which is based in Ashton-under-Lyne, helping to raise awareness of its services and will also be supporting its ball in May next year celebrating 10 years since the charity was established.

Finding Rainbows provides support group meetings and counselling for anyone who has been affected by child bereavement. It also signposts them to other services that can help them with the challenges that they are facing as a result of their grief, such as depression. In addition it offers specialist services such as Upon Angels’ Wings, where volunteer seamstresses transform wedding dresses into gowns for babies and children to be laid to rest in.

The charity was established in 2012 by Natalie Cook after her baby son Kaiden died at just seven weeks old and her world feel apart. Natalie pledged to be there for others going through the same tragedy in Kaiden’s memory.

A solicitor who specialises in representing families who have lost a baby or child, said JMW had wanted to partner with Finding Rainbows to help it to reach more families who were struggling with their grief.

She said: “The loss of a baby or child at any stage is completely devastating for those it affects but it is often a taboo subject, with grieving parents feeling that they have to suffer in silence. What Finding Rainbows offers is an outlet for that grief and amazing support from people who know about baby and child loss from personal experience. There is huge demand for these services because unfortunately, as I know from my own experience representing families, this type of loss happens far too often.”

Natalie added: “It means a lot to us to be supported by a company that understands the issues around baby and child loss so well and wants to make a difference. We are looking forward to working with JMW on different events that will benefit bereaved families and help us to secure more funds for our vital services.”
