JMW client shares story for Cauda Equina Syndrome Awareness Day

As Cauda Equina Syndrome Awareness Day approaches for another year, our thoughts at JMW inevitably turn to the journey that our cauda equina clients have been on that brought them to our door.

Most are in a terrible situation when we first meet them, even struggling to leave the house, let alone partake in normal activities such as work and running errands.

While nothing can put them back to the person they once were before their life was turned upside down by this disabling spinal injury, I’m pleased to say that their journey does not end there. Things can, and do, get easier when as solicitors who specialise in CES, we are able to put the right care and support in place to help our clients live a life that is as independent and fulfilling as possible.

One client who has achieved this is Charlie Haynes, who was represented by my colleague Sally Leonards. Charlie has shared his thoughts of hope, and the crucial need for awareness, with the charity Cauda Equina Champions to mark this year’s awareness day. You can read Charlie’s powerful message by following the link.

The journey for people with CES is never easy, and certainly not one they would choose, but it’s inspiring to see how much dedication they bring to spreading awareness and trying to ensure more people go on to make a recovery.

Awareness is vital every day, not just once a year, but with people like Charlie sharing their voices, this can be achieved.

Cauda Equina Syndrome Awareness Day takes place this Sunday 1 October.
