Elspeth joined JMW in May 2018 as a Partner and Joint Head of the Family Team.
Elspeth is recognised as a leader in her field by the legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for her experience in all aspects of the law relating to personal relationships:
- Separation and divorce;
- Financial settlement following the breakdown of a relationship;
- Arrangements for children following relationship breakdown including with regard to where a child should live and how much time they should spend with each parent as well as specific issues such as place of education and funding of school fees, choice of name and welfare of a child;
- Wealth protection by way of pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
Recommended in Legal 500 2017 as an ‘outstanding lawyer who quickly grasps all aspects of the case and offers clear advice’; in Chambers 2017 as being "very strategic, calm, reassuring, has great rapport with clients, and goes the extra mile"; and in Legal 500 2016 'the "energetic" Elspeth Kinder "manages to secure excellent outcomes for her clients".' Following her degree at the University of Leeds, Elspeth qualified as a Solicitor into Cobbetts’ Family Team in 2005. Working alongside David Pickering throughout her career, Elspeth transitioned with the Cobbetts’ Family Team to join national firm DWF LLP in 2007, where she was made a Partner in 2015. Elspeth and David were invited to join JMW in May 2018, moving their highly regarded Tier 1 Team to join the equally successful JMW Family Team to become the largest team in the region.
Elspeth lives in the Ribble Valley with her husband and two young sons, where they enjoy an active social life with family and friends in their local community. Elspeth loves to enjoy walks in the Ribble Valley with her family and a good Sunday roast!
