Discontinuance following Representations - Assault against a Police Officer

Jack Murphy and Jack Pittam successfully represented Mr O’M, who was facing a single charge of assault against a police officer in the execution of their duty. Following review of the case papers, those instructed believed it would be beneficial to the client and in the public interest to have the matter resolved outside of court via written representations only. Considering a full background from the individual, the written representations were drafted and provided to the Prosecution in advance of the First Appearance hearing to ensure ample time was given to the Prosecutor to reflect on the case papers and client instructions.

It was confirmed by the Prosecution that the matter would be discontinued and there would be no consequence for that incident on the client’s record moving forwards.
