What Our Clients Say
How JMW Can Help
JMW’s client support service is available to any clients affected by serious injury and their families. The service provides an opportunity for clients to speak with someone who has been through a similar experience, and provides a positive insight into living life with a disability.
Catastrophic injury can affect every aspect of a person’s life, some of which can be difficult to talk about. Having the opportunity to speak with someone who can empathise with many of these challenges offers a great deal of comfort.
Our personal support service is delivered by our dedicated client support manager Jamie Rhind, who has spent more than 25 years living with a disability, and has worked for more than two decades working in the charity sector, supporting people affected by catastrophic injury. This combined experience proves invaluable in providing our clients with insight, information and advice designed to help rebuild their lives and address the barriers they face as they come to terms with their injury.
Jamie works with people and their families from the moment they’re ready, and the support continues throughout the journey towards independence. His own experience of litigation offers an insight into the process from a client perspective, which enables him to provide reassurance and understanding.
About Jamie
Jamie brings both lived and professional experience to this role. Having sustained a spinal cord injury of his own, he knows first-hand the challenges of rebuilding life after such an event. Alongside this, he has extensive personal experience working for the Spinal Injuries Association, where he progressed from peer worker to head of services. During this time, he helped to develop vital support networks for people and families adjusting to life with spinal cord injury.
His extensive knowledge enables him to provide insight into living well with a disability, as well as guidance on accessing statutory services. For those who may wait years before compensation is finalised, this practical advice and support can be invaluable.
Jamie describes his role as helping people look forward again. This involves identifying barriers to fulfilment, working on achievable goals, connecting people with organisations that can help, and above all being an empathetic listening ear. Through JMW’s support service, he provides not only personal insight but also the connections and encouragement that can make a real difference to those adapting to a new way of life.
