Cathryn joined JMW in February 2026 as an Associate in the Immigration Team within the Employment Department. She brings over nine years’ experience in UK inbound immigration law, advising both individuals and organisations on complex and time‑sensitive immigration matters.

Cathryn advises on a full spectrum of UK immigration matters, including:

• Family-based applications
• Settlement (ILR) and Naturalisation
• Applications under the EU Settlement Scheme
• Sponsor Licence applications
• Sponsor Licence compliance
• Skilled Worker visas

She is experienced in supporting businesses of all sizes, as well as high‑net‑worth individuals, and has secured successful outcomes for a diverse client base. Cathryn helps clients navigate complex immigration processes with confidence, providing support from beginning to end.

She has developed particular expertise in family-based applications, nationality matters, and in supporting organisations with worker sponsorship and sponsor licence compliance.

Cathryn is an active member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) and is on the ILPA Editorial Board. Cathryn also regularly writes for the Free Movement website.

Cathryn graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014 with a 2:1 law degree and completed her LPC at the University of Law in Chester. Cathryn qualified as a solicitor in 2020 at a Manchester practice before joining the specialist immigration firm Carter Thomas Solicitors.

Outside of work, Cathryn enjoys spending time with her two young children and is currently learning Polish.

Recent notable deals Cathryn has worked on:

• Cathryn acted for a large care provider with over 100 sponsored workers, which had been suspended from the register of licenced sponsors. Cathryn secured the full reinstatement of her client's A-rated sponsor licence.
• Cathryn supported an individual with a Returning Resident application following a greater than 15-year lapse of settlement. Cathryn provided robust representations regarding the individual's connections and secured a grant of Indefinite Leave to Enter the UK.
• Cathryn acted for a family in an application for a partner visa and for a visa for a child of a person with limited leave as a partner under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules. This matter involved elements of sole responsibility and serious and compelling family considerations and was approved within standard processing time frames.
